Ergonomic intervention and Optimization for maximum permissible loads to be carried in Sherpa mode based on physiological criteria CIGR Journal
Patel, Thaneswer.
The optimum load carrying capacity and maximum allowable work time at various slopes in the existing Sherpa mode of load carriage was determined based on 35% of maximum aerobic capacity. A convenience sample of 30 healthy agricultural who voluntarily signed an informed consent form participated in this study. The maximum loading capacity for a male is 50% of their body weight for a short duration and a minimum of 17% at 20% slope for a long duration. Considering the rate of perceived exertion in Sherpa mode of load carry, a basket holder was also conceptualized and developed. The silent features of the designed holder are (i) it can accommodate the wide range of existing baskets being used for Sherpa mode, (ii) shoulder straps were provided to transfer...

Estresse térmico sobre a seleção da dieta por bovinos - DOI: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v31i3.6293 Animal Sciences
Passini, Roberta; UEG; Ferreira, Fernanda Altieri; USP; Borgatti, Laura Maria Oliveira; USP; Terêncio, Pedro Henrique; USP; Souza, Rondon Tatsuta Yamane Baptista de; INPA; Rodrigues, Paulo Henrique Mazza; USP.

Evaluation of motorcyclist's discomfort during prolonged riding process with and without lumbar support Anais da ABC (AABC)
Karuppiah,Karmegam; Salit,Mohd S.; Ismail,Mohd Y.; Ismail,Napsiah; Tamrin,Shamsul B.M..
OBJECTIVE: The primary aim of this study is to examine the effects of a backrest: using a prototype of a lumbar support presented in author's earlier study on the discomfort rating of the body parts of motorcyclist. METHODS: One hundred motorcyclists participated in this study, all in good physical condition and with no immediate complaint of musculoskeletal disorders. Each participant was asked to sit for 2 hours on a motorcycle in two different sessions (with and without the lumbar support) in a controlled room environment. At every 15 minutes interval the participants were required to rate their discomfort level on the Borg's CR-10 questionnaire. RESULTS: The rate of discomfort level (in all body parts) decreased over time during the testing period with...

Systemic inflammatory and stress markers in cattle and sheep submitted to different reproductive procedures Ciência Rural
Costa,Vitória Gasperin Guazzelli; Vieira,Arnaldo Diniz; Schneider,Augusto; Rovani,Monique Tomazele; Gonçalves,Paulo Bayard Dias; Gasperin,Bernardo Garziera.
ABSTRACT: Previous studies have evaluated the effects of different reproductive procedures on discomfort markers in sheep and cattle. Such studies may help stimulate the adoption of techniques that are more beneficial for animal welfare. However, markers that are commonly used to evaluate discomfort are highly influenced by external factors. To overcome this, several systemic markers can be evaluated to more precisely identify stress, pain, and inflammation. Such markers include cortisol, acute phase proteins, bradykinin, and substance P. We aimed to review the potential markers of stress, pain, and inflammation, and discuss how and when they are regulated after different stimuli related to reproductive procedures in cattle and sheep. Furthermore, we...
